Commands Index

Alphabetical index of Fusion commands with the workspace, the usual toolbar location, and the guide page where each is explained.

Overview#

This is an alphabetical lookup table. Each row gives the command name, the workspace where it normally lives, where to find it in the interface, and the page in this guide (by section/slug) that explains it. If you remember what you want to do but not what the command is called, scan the "Where to find it" column or press S in Fusion and search by keyword.

Warning: Autodesk moves commands between tabs and drop-downs from release to release, and it periodically renames tabs (for example the Solid tab, the Utilities tab, the Make area). Locations were checked against Autodesk help where it gives a toolbar path (Solid > Create / Modify / Assemble, Inspect > Measure, Utilities > Make > 3D Print, Utilities > Add-Ins > Scripts and Add-Ins). Single-key shortcuts match the Fusion keyboard shortcuts reference; keys not in that reference were removed. If a command is not where this index says, press S and search the name. Anything marked "verify in your version" is not confirmed.

Conventions: "Design" means the Design workspace, "Sketch" means inside an active sketch (Create Sketch first), and "Solid / Surface / Sheet Metal / Plastic" are the tabs of the Design workspace toolbar. Slugs name pages inside the guide; refer to that section's folder and the page with that file name.

Where to find it#

Use the tables below, split by initial letter. Pages cited are in these sections: 01 Getting Started, 02 Sketching, 03 Solid Modeling, 04 Parametric Design, 05 Components and Assemblies, 06 Surface Modeling, 07 Form, Sculpt and Mesh, 08 Sheet Metal and Plastic, 09 Rendering and Animation, 10 Drawings and Documentation, 11 Simulation and Generative Design, 12 Electronics.

Electronics commands (for example Place Part, Route Net, Run ERC, Run DRC, Generate Gerbers) are documented in section 12: see 12-electronics/schematic-capture, 12-electronics/board-layout, 12-electronics/routing-autorouter-polygons, 12-electronics/erc-design-rules-drc, and 12-electronics/manufacturing-outputs.

Manufacture workspace (CAM)#

The Manufacture workspace is chosen from the workspace selector. Per Autodesk help, the toolbar tabs include Milling (with Setup, 2D, 3D, Multi-Axis, Modify and Manage groups), Turning, Fabrication, Additive, Inspection (Manual, Probing, Manage groups), Setup, Actions and Manage; which tabs appear depends on the workspace configuration and license. Many strategies, especially multi-axis, probing and advanced 3D, depend on your plan or on extensions (see 13-manufacture-cam/manufacturing-extensions and the Personal use vs paid page). Paths below follow the Manufacture help (for example Milling > 2D > 2D Contour, Milling > 3D > Scallop, Milling > Multi-Axis > Swarf, Manage > Tool Library).

Tips and pitfalls#

Tip: If the command is grayed out, the usual cause is the wrong workspace, the wrong active environment (for example outside a sketch), or a license limit. Check the Personal-use comparison page in this section.

Warning: Some commands appear only when a particular design type is active. Sheet Metal needs sheet metal rules, Plastic needs a plastic rule, and parametric commands may be unavailable in a direct modeling design. See the Parametric vs direct modeling page.

Tip: Press S and type a partial word. The search handles words like "round" poorly because it uses Fusion's own names, so try "fillet".

Warning: Simulation, Generative Design, advanced Manufacture, and some Render options require paid entitlements or cloud credits. A command being present in this index does not mean your license enables it.

Practice exercise#

  1. Pick five commands from this index you have never used.
  2. For each, find it in the interface using only the "Where to find it" column, and press Esc once opened.
  3. Open the linked guide page for two of them and read the options reference.
  4. Use the S key to find three more commands without looking at this index.

Expected result: you can locate any command in your toolbar within about ten seconds.

  • Keyboard shortcuts by workspace (this section)
  • Marking menu and customization (this section)
  • Workspaces overview (Getting Started)
  • Extrude command (Solid Modeling)
  • Constraints (Sketching)
