Project Tutorials#
This section has twelve end-to-end Fusion projects with exact dimensions, numbered steps, checkpoints and troubleshooting. They range from a simple L-bracket to CAM and generative design, and each one combines skills from earlier sections.
Projects include a coffee mug, a spur gear pair, an electronics enclosure with snap-fit lid, a print-in-place hinge, a quadcopter frame, a PCB-aware enclosure, a laser-cut box, and an animated exploded assembly. Start with Tutorial 1 if you are new; the later tutorials are intermediate or advanced.
Pages in this section#
- Tutorial 1: A Simple L-Bracket (beginner): Model a parametric 4 mm L-bracket with slotted holes.
- Tutorial 2: Electronics Enclosure with Snap-Fit Lid (intermediate): Design a two-part 3D-printable project box with screw-less snap-fit cantilever latches.
- Tutorial 3: A Meshing Spur Gear Pair (intermediate): Generate a 20-tooth and 30-tooth module-2 spur gear pair.
- Tutorial 4: Print-in-Place Hinge (intermediate): Model a three-knuckle hinge with a captive pin that prints fully assembled.
- Tutorial 5: Coffee Mug (Revolve, Fillets, Render) (beginner): Revolve a 90 mm ceramic mug from a dimensioned profile.
- Tutorial 6: Quadcopter Drone Frame (intermediate): Design a 5-inch FPV-style X-frame in carbon-fibre or printed form with parametric arms.
- Tutorial 7: A PCB-Aware Enclosure (advanced): Draw a small board in Fusion Electronics, push it to a 3D PCB.
- Tutorial 8: CNC-Milled Aluminum Part with a CAM Overview (advanced): Design a pocketed 6061 aluminum mounting block for 3-axis milling.
- Tutorial 9: Laser-Cut Box with Finger Joints (intermediate): Design a 3 mm plywood box with parametric finger joints and kerf compensation.
- Tutorial 10: Generative-Design Bracket (advanced): Set up a generative design study for a load-bearing bracket with preserve and obstacle geometry.
- Tutorial 11: Animated Exploded Assembly (intermediate): Build a small assembly with joints, explode it automatically and manually in the Animation workspace.
- Tutorial 12: 3D-Printed Assembly with Tolerances (advanced): Design a four-part printed pen holder with press fits.
Before you start#
The laser-cut box tutorial assumes Fusion's default Z-up orientation (Preferences > General > Default modeling orientation); with Y up, swap the Y and Z wording.
